| So I decided to take on the Nuzlocke Challenge for Ruby. Here are the rules I have decided I will follow Mandatory1. I will only capture the first Pokemon I see on a route, cave, or place that has Pokemon. If it faints or runs away, then I cant have another try. 2. Any Pokemon in my party that faints is considered dead and must be released as soon as possible. 3. Each captured Pokemon must have a nickname Optional1. An addition to rule one, I must run around the entrance of said area/route/etc until I see a non-duplicate Pokemon. Then proceed as usual. 2. No use of Master balls. 3. No capture of Legendary Pokemon. (This means Groudon, Rayquayza, Latios and the Regis) 4. The only exception to rule one: If I come across a stalemate, I may capture another Pokemon to use it as a way to get across. Example, I come across a part that needs cut, but don't have a Pokemon who can use cut. I can then capture a Pokemon who can use cut, and use it to get across. This captured Pokemon can not be given a nickname, cannot be used in a battle, and will be referred to as "tools". Once their use is expended, they will be put in a PC, should a time to use them should come again. 5. If an occasion should arise where a released Pokemon refuses to leave, then I must place it in the PC for the rest of the game. 6. Only one TM can be used per Pokemon. HMs can be used as much as I wish. 7. No use of healing items Current PokemonBJ- Level 17 Marshtomp Nuzlocke- Level 15 Nuzleaf One Up- Level 15 Shroomish Walshy- Level 14 Whimsur Montroc- Level 10 Magikarp Tid- Level 7 Zubat Part1 - Spoiler:
Well I had a good start but already used some healing items, so I had to start over due to montroc's request. Gotta say this didn't turn out bad either.
K so I went through the introduction crap and got to Birch getting attacked by a dog who is around the size of a puppy. He tells me to get a Pokeball from his bag which he left lying on the ground for some unknown reason. Despite this I chose Mudkip. I nicknamed it BJ. So we continued on to find May. Because of my rule, I could not get a Pokemon from routes 101 and 103. Beat her easily. Birch says she has had an extensive history as a trainer, which made me question why she only had a level 5 treeko.
But enough of the story let's begin this Challenge! I immediately went to route 102 and caught a seedot and affectionately named it after this challenge. So with BJ and Nuzlocke in my party, I pretty much had to keep switching him for Mudkip every match because his bide fails all the time. I was starting to regret getting Nuzlocke, but knew he'd become competent eventually. Grinded a bit. Somehow I wondered whether the game knew I was doing this challenge because BJ got a few misses here and there, and the enemy got a critical hit. After getting BJ and Nuzlocke to lvl 9 and 6 respectively, I went to route 104 to see if I could get a new pokemon. It was a wurmple, and BJ got a critical hit and killed it. Got kinda mad , but beh.
Afterwards I went to Petalburg woods to try my luck again, and found a shroomish. Captured it and named it One Up. Grinded a bit more, so this concludes part 1 of my Nuzlocke challenge.
Part2 - Spoiler:
I got no progress this day. Just leveled my Pokemon to be about on par with each other. Also tried going through Petalburg woods, but because I had a useless Pokemon (Nuzlocke), a water type vulnerable to grass attacks (BJ), and a grass type that barely did any damage(One Up). Combine all that with a regularly appearing Pokemon whose mere touch will put you to sleep. This is why I didn't want to ban items. This fucking place is the reason. Ah well. But even after that I have to go on a road filled with trainers! Maybe Ill Metal Gear it and try to get past them without them noticing.
Part3 - Spoiler:
Now that we're out of Petalburg Woods we're here at Route 104. I go to the tall grass behind the floral shop and got a Zigzagoon and named it Ziggy. And continue on down the road to see a woman who I fear to be a trainer. She was going in a spinning pattern, so when she had her back turned, I would run. She didi so. Girl: *Turns around immediately as I pass* Oh we must have been destined to meet! Landon: Oh you FUCKING BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITCH She only had a level 7 Zigzagoon so no worries. I fought a twin battle, as well as a fisherman who gave me a real challenge with his 3 Magikarps. At Rustboro city I went to Route 116 and caught a Whimsur. From my growing amount of Pokemon I wonder why people have rouble getting Pokemon. Anyway I named the Whimsur Walshy and later found out it was a female, which was an added bonus.
Part4 - Spoiler:
Seems I made an error during Ziggy's capture. I had already attempted to catch a Pokemon from Route 104, so I released it. Too but because it was the only Pokemon in my party who could learn cut But anyways, I focused mainly on leveling Walshy up because she was at level 6. She leveled up fast! D: Oh and guess who I encountered at Route 116? A fucking Nincada. Goddamn it why could it not have appeared when I had the opportunity to capture it.
Part5 - Spoiler:
Yay lots of progress today : D I've finally gotten my first badge. After I went outside to see where to go next, Team Magma had stolen DEVON GOODS. I got em back along with a kidnapped bird pokemon named Peeko. As a reward I was given another quest to deliver letter to President's son Steven. The President also gave me a PokeNav. So off we go to Dewford town. Thanks to Mr. Briney we got there without a hitch. Though I may have damned myself in doing so, I got fishing rod and caught a Magikarp and named it Montroc. Then I went into the cave and captured a Zubat and named it Tid, having nothing better to call it. So that's it for this day. Im proabably gonna grind up Tidt a bit, and Montroc too.

| So, if a Pokemon does not completely die, you can restore it to full health at a Pokemon Center, correct? Either way, good luck and all that, but you probably know what you're doing, so what good is luck? | |
